Learners will investigate different Management Information Systems and evaluate the common features. They will analyse an existing information system that is in use by an organisation and review records, observe performance and understand the legal and organisational requirements that apply to an information system. They will then use their findings to recommend improvements to a Management Information System, presenting their findings to a client
Initially, the unit is concerned with the understanding of the importance of Management Information Systems in organisations. Focus is placed on different types of information, information systems features, data security and the use of information systems for competitive advantage
The second unit deals with evaluating a Management Information System in an organisation. Topics discussed include issues associated with MIS performance and effectiveness
The final unit is concerned with planning improvements to a Management Information System. Emphasis is placed on MIS improvements and extensions
