: Introduction
This unit will develop learners’ understanding of database systems, and data analysis and modelling.
It will explain how normalisation and functional dependency theory is used to design a relational database and how the client-server model is used.
Assessment criteria for this unit include:
- Explain the Database Management System (DBMS)
- Explain the different levels of database architecture
- Describe big data and how it applies to database management systems
- Explain transaction processing within database management systems
